Huge anticipation around the National Conference on Knowledge Management hosted by SCMS Cochin in association with CDC, Govt. of India

SCMS Cochin will be hosting a National Conference on Knowledge Management on the 29-30th of August, 2014.   

The event is supported under “Building Capacities for Consultancy Development & Knowledge Management with Partner Institution (KMPI)” Programme run by Consultancy Development Centre (CDC). It is an autonomous institution of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) of Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and SCMS Cochin is its Knowledge Management Partner Institute.

It’s important to note that the CDC is also the nodal agency in the Asia Pacific region for the Technical Consultancy Development Programme for Asia and the Pacific (TCDPAP). The program is promoted by the United Nation Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), which further adds weight to the event that will bring to the fore some interesting and exciting concepts for the participants. It will all begin on the morning of 29th August with the welcome address by Dr. V. Raman Nair, Director, SCMS Cochin School of Business. the Keynote Address to be delivered by Mr. Tobby Simon, President and CEO of Synergia Bio Sciences, a life sciences company.

The two day event has been divided into several sessions and they will commence with the one themed, “Knowledge Management and Leadership”. Recent Trends in Knowledge Management – IT domain and Business Integration Process and Knowledge Management are the other important sessions that will be held on day 1.

Paper Presentations will set the ball rolling on day 2 and it will be an interesting opportunity for the participants to gain further insight into the subject. Three more sessions on different aspects of Knowledge Management will be a part of events on the second day. The highlight of the program is that each of these sessions is helmed by renowned speakers from companies like Wipro, Ernst & Young, TCS, SunTec Business Solutions and HCL along with Govt. Officials and Academia which will lead to an enriching experience for the participants.  

Registrations for the power packed two day event can be done on the morning of August 29th. Those interested in ideas and insight on Knowledge Management can head to the SCMS Cochin campus and make the most out of the opportunity.

Mr Sajiv Menon, MD, Nitta Gelatine India Ltd delivers an inspiring inaugural address to new students at the orientation program organized by SCMS Cochin School of Business

SCMS Cochin School of Business welcomed its 23rd batch of students with a rigorous orientation program to put them right into the thick of action. The institute aims to ensure that its students are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead of them and it all begins with the induction program. It offered an opportunity for all management aspirants to get on the fast track to learning. The institute on its part had managed to draw some of the leading lights from the industry for the program to make sure that the students learned from the best.

Some of the eminent personalities from the industry who made their presence felt during the program included Mr. Sajiv Menon, MD, Nitta Gelatine India Ltd, Mr. Mahesh Nazare, Director, Red Dot  Training, Mr. Praveen Kamath, Global Head  Talent training, WIPRO, Mr. Vinu Verghese, COO,  Idea Cellular Ltd and Mr Baiju  Radhakrishnan, Management Consultant, Ex VP  Birla Tyres. Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), Delhi for National Conference on Knowledge Management was also represented at the program.

menon1An engaging inaugural session was held on the 5th of Aug, 2014 for the benefit of the new students. The session was presided over by Dr. G. P. C. Nayar, Chairman, SCMS Group. Dr. V. Raman Nair, Director, SCMS Cochin School of Business welcomed the gathering, making sure the guests and new students were made to feel at home on the lush campus of the institute. Prof. K.J. Poulose, Dean, Management Studies at the institute proposed the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries present.

The inaugural address was to be delivered by Mr. Sajiv Menon and it had the audience brimming with anticipation. But before that it was the turn of Mr. Nayar to have a few words with the students. He was encouraging of their decision of joining the institute and pursuing their dreams because he believed it was the right time to do so. “There is a growing emphasis on development in the country, which should augur well for all. The reputation of the institute should attract placements but only your hard work and discipline can deliver the goods,” he set the tone for what would be expected out of the students.

Mr. Menon then took to the stage and began his inauguration address. He started with talking about the facilities at SCMS Cochin and appreciating the efforts the institute has taken to offer its students state of the art amenities for a dynamic learning experience. He then urged the students to make the most of the opportunities they have at the institute. “Resources are everywhere; it is up to you to get the best out of these resources. Explore them to the fullest to realize your true potential,” he said.

menon2While Mr. Menon was keen on and hoped that students would equip themselves with skills that will take them far in their professional careers, he also wanted them to enjoy their time at the institute. “Enjoy every bit of your college life because this time won’t come back. You will be making memories that will be cherished for a long time,” he said to students with dreams in their eyes. He ended his invigorating address by asking students to remember their social responsibility while they marched on their road to professional success.
